Position within Australia. Your location. Places last visited. It is as noisy as hell! I've read many others posted reviews and think that they must be written by Morningside property merchants! Either that, or they have scored a property that does have excellent sound proofing, they never open doors and windows or are possibly even deaf. I am referring to a particular spot along Richmond Road, four 4 minute walk from the station, whose aspect is directly in line with road and rail.
The location of the unit is at that sweet point where the suburban trains begin to brake as they approach the station and Morningside platform. The location also coincides with where cars, trucks and bikes brake to negotiate the corner on Richmond Road. As it turns out, this particular unit is also where the mechanical garage door, directly beneath the main bedroom, is located.
Each time one 1 of the sixteen residents departs or enters, the noise from the mechanical door reverberates with amplified glee into that place of refuge and through the entire unit. The garage traffic exits begin at 5am and can go into the early morning. The majority of returns between 5 - 7pm.
With this cacophony, its not surprising that the planes above don't bear mentioning Like they say, Location, location , location and this is not the location to be if you like to keep your doors and windows open to allow fresh air to flush through your living area, rely less on aircon and the associated cost in running it, value quiet and like to listen to the TV.
However, on the positive. If you are one that like city sounds, suburban orchestrated noise, coal dust its on the verandah! As the Real Estate Manager Agent Xpressed, when I listed the sources of my distress, do your homework before you move in.
I loved it. A lot of restaurants I liked. Townhouses make it affordable. Renting is still ok but prices for medium standard houses go over a million. Planes are very noisy now! Little bit dangerous for cyclists. Richmond road becomes a racetrack at peak times. I have owned and lived in Morningside for more than five years and I will never live anywhere else. It has everything. Access to boarding blue chip suburbs such as Hawthorne and Bulimba and the many lifestyle options that both provide, fantastic public transport into the CBD via bus or train, quick and easy access south via Wynnum Road and easy access to Westfield Carindale.
All the while it seems to provide that perfect balance between modern and urban inner city suburb and quiet and green family location. I wouldn't change anything about it. Sean Dawson Sales Associate m. So far so good! Lived in the area since and haven't looked back. We have multiple markets run throughout that year and multiple parks for the kids to roam. And if you get bored you can watch an AFL game on the weekend.
You cant find a better price to be 6km from the city, surrounded by suburbs that are far more expensive. Close to everything. Still needs a few upgrades, but all in all couldn't be happier. We moved from Kangaroo Point to Morningside when we started a family. My partner wasn't too sure on the move but 18months later, we are still here and very happy with the move.
We like the fact it is close to public transport trains and buses , close to shops, Dr surgery and Hawthorne Park. It's only 5km from the city too. It's a quiet area but you do get planes flying over you get used to that. Hey Amanda, how frequent is the plane noise.
Would they keep you up at night? I lived in Morningside between , it is close to a lot of shops and resturants, that is a plus! Transport is good into the city and there is a train. It was also a little weird at times, I remember there was an Indian resturant up the road from me, where I ordered food and it was the wrong order, I think I must have said something on my Facebook, a private post that somehow the owner found then called me, telling me he fired the person who made the mistake.
I don't know what happened there, or how he managed to look at my FB. Another strange occurence is there was a street across the road from my bedroom window, and in the last months I was there for, there would always be an ambulance going up to a house, followed by a cop car, they would then leave after some time. At one point I remember a cop car went to that street, and then was leaving to go on the main road It was like across the road then down a street, just a few houses , I could hear a scream and the police backed up and went to the house again.
I have no clue what happened here, or why this was the case. Would I say Morningside is safe? Not entirely, there was also apparently a murder somewhere in the surburb when I lived there. So it had a mixture of both, it depends where you honestly live and what street you choose. Its definitely the best spot in Brisbane if you take away the planes, trains and automobiles and the barking dogs.
In fact' leave them in, because every suburb has its issues and for mine the pro's far outweigh the cons. Remember all the great restaurants, the fabulous seafood market, Oxford Street shops, there are about 5 Gyms, several great pubs, plenty of parking, bus, rail and ferry options, motorway and airport access, supermarkets galore, and Bunning's is just up the road.
So is First Choice and Dan Murphy if you need help sleeping. It is near Carindale, has cheap fuel, lots of accommodation options and plenty of schools, both public and private.
Its smack bang in the middle of everything you could want! Don't forget folks. There is no doubt there are some noise issues, but we have sat down and looked at other options in the area and we would rather keep what we have at the price we got it for thank you.
Inner City living! Glimpses of City Views, river close by, great food in the area, quiet streets full of people walking dogs and laughter of kids playing. Airplane flight path can be heard but with good insulation in the house it's not a bother, never affected sleep or enjoyment of the house. Many professional families in the area and more younger professional couples moving to the area. Safe suburb, never hear sirens in the night as opposed to living at West End and heard them most nights.
Many houses being done up in the area as a new generation takes over. Plenty of local businesses supply all you need from beauty to business supplies, protein, plenty of food options, supermarkets, pubs, you name it. Plenty of parks and recreation areas! Conveyancing Services.
