His friends catch on pretty quick that it's a different Yugi and in the manga Tea comments on his voice being different pretty early. Him getting taller is anime only I think.

Nov 2, 7, Now I want to see a scene where Yugi can't reach something high on a shelf, so he quickly transforms into Yami. Oct 27, 1, I was actually just wondering earlier today if we had a yugioh tcg thread lmao.

Felt like there was one but i guess no one plays like that. HStallion Member. Oct 25, 48, It's only when Shadi arrives at the conclusion of the Duelist Kingdom arc that the differences between Yugi and the Pharaoh start to really get explored. To Shadi, Yugi and Yami look identical. But Yugi's mind is that of a child's, while Yami's is an apparent labyrinth full of traps that Shadi nearly falls prey to. Indeed, only the holders of the Millenium Items can recognize the difference between Yami and Yugi.

As for physical differences, it seems that only the anime viewers are able to perceive them. Pegasus then takes the Duel to the Shadow Realm and uses his eye-themed monsters. Yugi, unable to cope with the Shadow Realm passes out after a few turns, setting a card as he does so.

Yami Yugi and Yugi looking at their friends as they have defeated Pegasus and rescued everyone he captured. Yami struggles with continuing the Duel alone. He then gets a vision of Grandpa, who tells that Yugi may not physically be with him, but his spirit still is. Using "Multiply" "Thousand Eyes Restrict" is forced to absorb a " Kuriboh Token " and has each of its eyes covered, freeing the Magician from its paralysis.

After the Kaibas' souls were free and the gang was leaving, Yugi asked Yami Yugi what his name was. He replied by saying that he has been called many things throughout the ages-Pharaoh, Yu-Gi-Oh or Yami, which he seems to prefer more.

Mokuba Kaiba requests the help of Yugi and his friends after Seto Kaiba gets trapped in a virtual reality game by the Big Five. Yugi, along with Joey, Mai and Mokuba save Kaiba.

He ordered Yugi to stay away from the new shop. At school, they met the new student, Duke Devlin , the owner of the Black Clown. Joey was jealous of Duke's popularity and challenged him to a game of Duel Monsters. Yugi objected to the condition that Joey and Duke both use Decks from packs they open on the spot. Joey lost the televised Duel and in keeping his end of the bargain had to do whatever Duke said.

Yugi became disgusted after Duke forced Joey to wear a dog suit and behave like a dog, so he switched to Yami who challenged Duke to a Duel. Unfamiliar with the rules, Yami got off to a rough start. His chances did not improve as Duke revealed that he designed Dungeon Dice Monsters with Pegasus' aid.

Yami succeeded in calling " Dark Magician ", which Pegasus had added to the game, and used it to defeat Duke. After the game, Duke, Yugi and Yugi's friends went to Duke's office. Duke lamented that his dream has been crushed as nobody would want to play Dungeon Dice Monsters now. However Yugi assured him that it was a great game and his friends agreed. Duke apologized for how he had treated them, and they agreed to be friends.

At first, Yami showed a confident face as he often did, but became confused when noticing that there was no one to Duel. After visiting many shops and attractions, they enter an arcade. Inside, Yami observes with interest the many games he has never heard nor seen before.

If she loses she must become his girlfriend. Yami reveals himself to be Yugi Muto during the Duel, causing Johnny to surrender and run. Here they meet Ishizu Ishtar , who shows Yami some information about his past as a pharaoh and tells him he must enter the Battle City tournament to learn more, as well as warning him of a coming danger.

Yugi is invited to the Battle City tournament. After trying to return "Red-Eyes" to Joey, Joey insists that Yugi should keep it and he'll take it back when he becomes a better Duelist. Yami next faces Arkana , whose signature card is also a " Dark Magician ". The Duel is set up, so two saw-blades draw closer to the player's feet, as their Life Points lower.

Yami wins the Duel and rescues Arkana from the blades. Strings Summons " Slifer the Sky Dragon " and creates a massive hand of cards. Yami manages to turn Marik's strategy against him, ultimately forcing his opponent to Deck Out , and takes "Slifer the Sky Dragon" after winning. Kaiba challenges Yami Yugi to a Duel after his victory against Strings.

Yami however postpones the Duel, as he must check his friends' safety, as Marik is just after threatening to turn them into Mind Slaves. Kaiba assists Yugi in his search. Umbra and Lumis Decks are designed to combat the Summoning of the God cards, but Yami and Kaiba manage to work together and get around their lock, Summoning Obelisk once again to win the Duel. Yugi acquires enough Locator Cards to proceed to the finals after this Duel.

Both players are chained to an anchor and forced to Duel. Defeating their opponent would release a key to save themselves. After a timer hits zero, the anchor would drag one of the two players chained to it into the water to drown. Marik doesn't allow Yugi to use Slifer. Yami puts the card aside, not planning to use it anyway and instead adds Joey's "Red-Eyes" to his Deck.

Shortly into the Duel, Yugi asks Yami to let him handle it. Yami is unsure if that's the safest option, but relinquishes control to Yugi. Yugi puts the Millennium Puzzle aside, so Yami cannot take control. Yugi manages to snap Joey out of Marik's control in time for Joey to force the Duel into a draw and save both players.

Yami learns from Yugi that in kindness lies the greatest strength of all, and he thinks one day Yugi will surpass him in every way. Yami competes on Kaiba's blimp for the Battle City finals.

Kaiba warns him that he won't win unless he uses Slifer, and Yami reluctantly adds the god card to his Deck. His first Duel is against Bakura, and is shocked to find that his dark half has survived.

Soon, Yami's only hope is "Slifer", and he plays the god card for the first time. Marik, who had enlisted Yami Bakura's aid, tells him to use the real Bakura, who had been injured, to try and get Yami to forfeit the Duel.

Yami Bakura does, but then changes his mind at the last minute, and Yami uses "Slifer" to attack and win the Duel. Joey shields Mai with his own body, though it would risk a great deal of damage. Yami rushes in at the last minute and takes the hit; his own body, through the power of his Puzzle, affords him the strength to withstand Ra's attack. Yami Marik, however, still traps Mai in her mind sends her to the Shadow Realm in the dub.

Before Kaiba's blimp can land on Alcatraz, Yugi, Kaiba, and the rest of the passengers aboard are rerouted to a hidden bunker. The bunker seems to be operated by a boy who calls himself Noah, who forces Yugi and company into a Virtual World, where everyone is separated from one another to fend for themselves—and to Duel against KaibaCorp's former Board of Directors, the Big Five. Yami finds himself trapped in a lockdown Duel against Gansley, who has taken on the form of the " Deepsea Warrior ".

Gansley's abilities as the "Deepsea Warrior" damage Yami's Life Points considerably, until Yami's Deck Master, " Kuriboh " who chose itself as his partner , saves him from losing the Duel and his body. Yami manages to win by using " Rainbow Blessing " with Kuriboh to create a path for Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight " to strike the finishing blow against Gansley and win. They battled the Big Five and won in the end.

Yami convinced Noah to Duel him after he said that Kaiba would have beaten Noah, had Noah not used Mokuba to keep him from losing.

He replaced Kaiba as Noah's opponent and combined Kaiba's Deck with his own, despite Kaiba having only Life Points while Noah had nearly twenty times his score. With every passing turn, Noah turned each one of Yugi's friends to stone when Yugi failed to defeat him.

After a harrowing battle, Yami, drawing on the strength of his friends, was able to activate " Card of Sanctity " and draw himself a brand-new hand one card for each of his friends. Right after the Duel, Gozaburo Kaiba , Noah's father, appeared and revealed the Noah has been working for him all along, and has plans for taking of the world by sending it to the Virtual World.

Noah teams up with Yugi and co. However, after Noah had a change of heart, and Yami Marik destroys the computer programming the missile, he tells them all the exit, and they all leave the Virtual World, with Noah returning Mokuba's body, and barely escaping the explosion.

After escaping the Virtual World , Yugi and the other three finalists in Battle City — Yami Marik , Joey Wheeler , and Seto Kaiba —competed against each other in a 4-way Battle Royal , to determine which opponents would be paired up against each other.

Yugi found himself pitted against Kaiba in the rematch of the Millennium since their bout in Duelist Kingdom. During this "Clash in the Coliseum", both Yugi and Kaiba Summoned the respective Egyptian God Card each of them possessed, but the Duel became a heated stalemate, as neither Egyptian God was able to destroy the other. Kaiba would ultimately force the Duel into a 6-turn showdown by using " Final Attack Orders " to reduce both players' Decks to three cards.

As per the ante rule of the Battle City Tournament—and after Kaiba berated Yugi with his delusion that one cannot truly win while relying on others—Yugi was given " Obelisk the Tormentor " before the Duel with Marik.

The Duel between Yugi and Marik is a Shadow Game involving the loser forfeiting his alter ego, but as Marik pointed out, no matter who won, an innocent soul would be lost forever—and if Yami Yugi lost, both he and Yugi would cease to exist.

Yami responded by activating a card that Kaiba had given him before the Duel—" Fiend's Sanctuary ", which would turn all Battle Damage back on Marik if the attack went through. Even though Marik negated "Ra's" attack with "De-Fusion" which he'd gained after Yugi activated " Exchange " to take " Monster Reborn " from Marik , Yami would then combo "Fiend's Sanctuary" and " Multiply " to Summon "Obelisk" and attack Marik directly, but it would not be enough to win, because with that direct attack, Marik had everything he needed to complete his Immortality strategy, eventually locking down Yami's attacks with a combo of " Egyptian God Slime " and " Jam Defender " before reviving "Ra" with "Monster Reborn" yet again.

In addition, Marik also shows him the hieroglyphs tattooed on his back. According to Marik and Ishizu, the "Secret of the Pharaoh" is written somewhere in the hieroglyphs, and only the rightful possessor of the legendary Millennium Puzzle and the three Egyptian God Cards can unlock that great secret.

After the Battle City tournament, Yugi goes to the museum, where Yami Yugi attempts to regain his memories by holding the Egyptian Gods up to the tablet. However, it can't due to another dark force freezing the entire thing, preventing him to enter and it begins to consume the God Cards' power. Afterwards, It was interrupted by real life Duel Monsters appearing outside.

Later that night, a group of perpetrators broke into Kame Game and stole the God Cards. Yami Yugi meets up with them and Duels one, known as Gurimo , who, during the Duel activates a field Magic Card called " The Seal of Orichalcos ", which entraps himself and Yami Yugi inside a magical force field.

Gurimo explains that by using his new Magic Card, he and Yugi are cut off from the outside world and only he who wins the Duel can escape the full power of the "The Seal of Orichalcos", as it will extract the loser's soul to awaken the Great Leviathan.

Gurimo Summons the stolen " Obelisk the Tormentor ", who is affected by the "Seal". Yami Yugi manages to destroy "Obelisk" and defeat Gurimo, sealing Gurimo's soul, but does not recover the God cards.

Here, they meet Dark Magician Girl , who explains about the Leviathan and urges them to pull a sword from a crystallized dragon. In doing so, Yugi, revealed to be 1 of 3 chosen Duelists, releases the Legendary Dragon known as Timaeus, who becomes a card in Yugi's Deck. Together, he and Yami use this card dubbed " The Eye of Timaeus " to fight the Paradius organization, who are trying to awaken the Great Leviathan with the power of "The Seal of Orichalcos".

Afterwards, Pegasus sends Yugi and his friends a videotape, inviting the group to Industrial Illusions headquarters in America to collect a card needed to defeat Paradius. Yami gradually being taken over by the dark energies of the Seal of Orichalcos during his Duel against Rafael.

Believing Yami Yugi was an evil Pharaoh, Rafael targets him to try and take his soul. Rafael later plays the card " Exchange ", forcing Yami to take that very Magic Card. Yugi instructs that they must not play that card, no matter what. Unfortunately, Yami reaches a point in the Duel where he cannot win without playing it. As he prepares to activate it, Yugi objects, to no avail.

However, upon playing the Seal, Timeaus automatically leaves Yami's side of the field, as it doesn't co-operate with the Orichalcos. The energies from the Orichalcos corrupt Yami, who begins Tributing his own monsters with the effect of " Catapult Turtle " in a reckless attempt to damage Rafael's Life Points and win, despite Yugi's objections.

Rafael uses Yami's strategy against him when he Summons " Guardian Eatos ", whose ATK increases according to the amount of monsters in the opponent's Graveyard, and defeats Yami. The Pharaoh, horrified at what his actions has caused since falling prey to his own inner fury. Yami falls into depression and guilt over what he let happen to Yugi.

When Weevil tricks Yami into thinking he's permanently lost Yugi's soul, Yami goes berserk and recklessly attacks him by using the combo " Breaker the Magical Warrior " with " Berserker Soul ", continuing even after Weevil's Life Points reach 0.

Yami giving his card, The Eye of Timaeus to Ironheart. Ashamed of himself, Yami lets Ironheart hold onto his "Timaeus" card. Ironheart leads Yami to a place of lost souls, where, after confronting several evil spirits of Duelists he has faced most of them originated in the Duelist Kingdom arc of this series , he finds Yugi's spirit.

Yugi convinces Yami to engage him in a Duel, stating that this is the only way that Yami can prove he's sorry for his recent misdeeds. Yami tries to reason with him, but Yugi refuses to listen, declaring that Yami never cared about anyone else's lives that he has brought this upon himself. Duel Disks and Decks then appeared on their arms. Bakura told Yugi that this would be a Shadow Game, so losing would mean losing his soul. In the dub, Bakura instead said that it had been a while since they Dueled, but this time Yugi doesn't have Yami Yugi to bail him out.

As they Dueled, Yugi realized that the Deck created from images of his mind was much different than his real Deck. Whenever Bakura took the upperhand, he would often taunt Yugi about not being able to win without Yami Yugi.

Since Bakura no longer had a Graveyard he was unaffected. Bakura's strategy left Yugi with one card in his Deck, " Gandora the Dragon of Destruction ", which he drew and Summoned.

Bakura said that he couldn't believe he lost to a "container". Before relinquishing control of Tristan's body, he laughed that Zorc had still been freed and they couldn't win if the pharaoh dies. After explaining to Tristan what just happened, the chamber started to collapse.

The quartet exited through a tunnel leading them to the side of a cliff. After sliding down the cliff, Yugi and his friends were attacked by hooded riders. Like how Yugi and Yami Bakura were able to form Duel Disks, Yugi realized that if concentrated hard enough, their thoughts could become real. With no time to fight the riders, they imagined that they could fly and took off to find the pharaoh. As Zorc was about to throw a fireball at the pharaoh, Yugi and his friends arrived.

Zorc instead threw the fireball at them, saying that they should have stayed in their own world. The group dodged the attack, but saw some of Bakura's soldiers approaching.

He Summoned the "Dark Magician", who the pharaoh now recognized as Mahad. With the Monster Spirits battling Zorc and the soldiers, Yugi and his friends gathered around the pharaoh.

They told him that they had seen his name and remember what it looked like, but were unable to read it. They all held their hands over the cartouche and tried this. Zorc tried to stop them by throwing another fireball in their direction, but Seto Kaiba appeared and used " Ring of Defense " to block the attack.

Zorc launched another attack destroying the ring. Yugi and company managed to survive with the name engraved on the cartouche. The pharaoh declared that his name was Atem. Yugi and Atem both found it weird having different names at first, having shared an identity since Yugi solved the Puzzle.

Yugi said he felt a bit lonely, but it was okay. Even if their names are different, he said that they will still be a team. Yugi and the others awoke in the cavern they had entered the world of the pharaoh's memories from.

Yugi found that Atem still residing in his body and received the Millennium Eye from Kaiba, who said he'd be needing it. Before they can question Kaiba on how he got it, they were interrupted by the appearance of Bakura, who was no longer possessed by Yami Bakura. They went on to a boat, where Yugi met up with Duke, Grandpa and Mokuba. On the boat, Marik told Yugi that Atem would have to lose in a Ceremonial Battle in order to move on.

He believed that this was something both he and Atem needed. Angrily, Kaiba showed Yugi a briefcase of cards and said that if he's Dueling he might as well use a real Deck, but Yugi declined again, wanting to use his and Atem's cards.

The night before they arrived at the shrine, Yugi worked on his Deck. However Atem had been hiding within his soul room to give Yugi privacy while he made his Deck. As he constructed the Deck, Yugi reflected on how solving the Millennium Puzzle changed his life. Once he finished, he gave Atem privacy to construct his Deck. Atem and Yugi face each other in the Ceremonial Battle. The next day, everyone arrived at the shrine.

This was the best time for the Duel as Zorc had just been defeated, Ishizu assured them and said the pharaoh will stuck in this time if they don't take this chance. Yugi placed the Millennium Items in the Millennium Stone. This caused the Eye of Wdjat to scan him for the pharaoh's soul and split them into two bodies. Yugi and Atem walked to opposite sides of the cavern and prepared to Duel. Atem choose not to hold back and quickly Summoned the three Egyptian Gods.

Once the magicians were defeated, Atem attempted to revive "Slifer the Sky Dragon" using "Monster Reborn", but Yugi revealed that he had selected that card with "Gold Sarcophagus" and negated its effect.

Yugi reluctantly attacked Atem directly with " Silent Magician ", winning the Duel. With the Duel over Yugi wept. He called himself weak and said that he had always followed Atem, wanting to be as strong as him. However Atem said that Yugi has the strength of tenderness, which Yugi has also taught him. Yugi called Atem "the other me", but Atem said that he is no longer another Yugi and Yugi Muto is now himself and nobody else. In the dub, as Yugi wept, he said that he had been so focused on the Duel, he forgot what winning meant.

However Atem said that Yugi has opened the door for him, so he can finally be at rest where he belongs and that they have fulfilled their destiny. Yugi said that he was going to miss Atem, but Atem said that they will never be truly apart as the gift of kindness Yugi has given him and the courage he has given Yugi will bind them forever.

The Eye of Wdjat then began to glow and upon hearing Atem say his name, opened the door to the spirit world. Yugi and his friends tried to convince Atem to stay. In the dub, Yugi said that it's like they always say "It's your move! Once the doorway shut, the chamber began to shake. Yugi and the others all ran outside, while the shrine collapsed, burying the Millennium Items with it. Later when he met up with his friends again, he thought that this isn't the tale of the pharaoh; Everyone has their own story and although one has just ended, his own is just beginning.

Yugi meets Jaden, as he gives him " Winged Kuriboh ". Jaden Yuki bumps into him on the way to the Duel Academy sign-ups. Yugi gives Jaden the card " Winged Kuriboh ". In the Japanese version, he says the card is lucky. In the English dub, he says that he feels the card belongs with Jaden. Later on, it is stolen by Dimitri , who duels Jaden with it. During the duel, Dimitri began to mimic Yugi and a shaded figure of Yugi appeared behind him.

Afterward, the Deck is returned. One of the girls in the class says that they are one of the best looking, and another girl calls them dreamboats. When Jaden visits the Kame Game shop during the school trip, Solomon Muto states Yugi went on another journey and he does not know when he will come back.

It's Yugi", so he makes his escape. During one of Aster Phoenix 's flashbacks , Pegasus mentions Yugi being "Number 1" in his top five duelists, with Kaiba as number 2, Joey number 3, Aster number 4, and Jesse Anderson as number 5. During Jaden's last year, the person who had gained the most graduation points at the exam would get a copy of Yugi's deck, excluding the God Cards.

During the graduation party, Jaden is led by Winged Kuriboh to the room containing Yugi's deck. Yugi appears and sends Jaden back in time to Duel his younger self.

Set sometime before the Waking the Dragons arc, Yugi won Battle City V2 at some point and had a dream where Kuriboh told him he would meet someone and have to Duel him. Shortly after this, Yugi bumped into Jaden Yuki , who had been sent back in time by Yugi's future self. Jaden showed Yugi a " Winged Kuriboh " card, which he said Yugi had given to him and it helped him come here.

Yugi saw that Jaden's "Winged Kuriboh" looked like his own " Kuriboh ", but had no knowledge of ever meeting Jaden or giving him a card. He told Jaden about his dream and asked if Jaden was there to Duel him. Yugi prepares to Duel the Jaden Yuki from the future. The two proceeded to Domino City Plaza , where they saw that time had frozen and nobody else was around and began to Duel. Jaden then remembered the important thing that he had lost - how to have fun in a Duel regardless of its importance.

No outcome to the Duel is shown and Jaden returned to his own time. Though he did not appear in Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's Yugi may have been considered the greatest duelist of all time by this point. In the unaltered events of Bonds Beyond Time , an old article depicted Yugi to have won the tournament held by Pegasus at Domino Plaza, as shown in the photo of him holding a trophy while shaking hands with Pegasus with his grandpa in the back.

Set before events of the Waking the Dragons arc and his duel with Jaden, Yugi attended a Duel Monsters tournament at Domino Plaza, where Pegasus was handing out cards to young children. Paradox time traveled to this event in order to kill Pegasus. Yugi managed to survive the attack and began to search for survivors. He then found his grandfather's bandanna and wept over his death. However the Crimson Dragon appeared and swallowed Yugi.

Jaden , Yusei and Yugi confront Paradox. Yugi was taken back in time to half an hour previous, where he was joined by Yusei Fudo and Jaden Yuki , who were also time traveling. Jaden and Yusei told Yugi what they knew about Paradox and Yugi agreed to help them try and stop him.

Before Paradox was able to destroy the plaza, Jaden got Yubel to scare them away, resulting in their running to safety. Yugi, Jaden and Yusei then confronted Paradox, who explained that he was from a future destroyed by Duel Monsters and is now trying to prevent its creation. Yugi, Jaden and Yusei Dueled Paradox with a time limit of twenty minutes, by which time Pegasus would arrive.

With everything returned to normal, as Yami, Yugi said goodbye to Jaden and Yusei before they returned to their own times and hoped to meet them again. In this version, Yugi appears considerably taller, though he has not aged. When shown in scenes beside Yusei or Jaden, he including his hair is generally the same height as them, only being shorter by a very small length, though he technically should be much shorter than them. Joey initially bullied Yugi along with Tristan , but after he saw how Yugi stood up to Ushio, they became best friends.

When he was possessed by Marik , Yugi took Yami's place to get his friend back to his senses. After Joey's first Duel with Marik, Yugi took it hard, cried, blamed himself, and was in grief. Joey, likewise, was upset when Yugi's soul was taken by the " The Seal of Orichalcos ". Joey is fiercely loyal to Yugi and is often quick to give his support to him.

Joey is the most precious person to Yugi; they love each other, are best friends, and would do anything for each other. Tea states that Yugi and Joey are like brothers, [] which emphasises how close the two are and how much they love each. During the Ceremonial Battle he was the first to declare his support for Yugi over Yami. During the pier duel, in the Japanese version, Yugi reaffirms, "Jonouchi, I love you.

This line was changed to "best friend" and similar in many Western adaptations including the US dub of the show , though it was kept in the English version of the manga. After putting the Millennium Puzzle together, a "walk-in" spirit entered his mind and bonded with him.

Yugi was initially unaware of Yami 's existence and control of Yugi's body would involuntarily shift when Yugi or his friends are wronged. After finding out about the spirit, he was afraid of him, but eventually grew to accept this revelation as well as Yami himself. Not only did the two become best friends but also developed a bond similar to that of brothers or a father and son.

As Yugi began to grow, becoming stronger he still remained in Yami's shadow. After the warehouse fire, Yugi is shown to be afraid of losing Yami. When he found out Yami was looking for his lost memories, Yugi decided to help, even though it meant they would one day be separated.

Yugi was heartbroken as he watched Yami using the Seal of the Orichalcos, but when he lost and was about to lose his soul, Yugi sacrificed himself to save his closest friend who for the 1st time seen in the series cried.

After winning the Ceremonial Battle , Yugi was upset to see him go, claiming that he was weak and wasn't ready. Yami, proud of him, tells him otherwise, and as he steps through the door to the afterlife, Yugi gives him a thumbs up, now ready to go on his own.

The fact that Yugi and Yami Yugi are two separate beings causes her confusion as to who she really loves. She has also shown jealousy towards Mai Valentine for her initially flirtatious attitude towards Yugi during her first appearance at Duelist Kingdom , as well as Vivian Wong. Tristan initially bullied Yugi along with Joey , but after he saw how Yugi stood up to Ushio, he became a friend to him.

But when he met up with them again the others were hostile towards him but Yugi knew Tristan better than to attack the three. After Seto Kaiba lost to Yugi in their first Duel, he becomes determined to defeat Yugi and becomes his rival. Despite their differences, Yugi bears no animosity towards Kaiba, which cannot be said the same for the other way as Kaiba held a grudge against Yugi for quite some time. He even cheered Kaiba on when the latter played a match against Pegasus even though Kaiba had taken Yugi's star chips by threatening to jump off the edge of the castle unless Yugi stopped an attack that would have won him the Duel, something that made Yugi suffer a loss in confidence due to nearly killing Kaiba and that Kaiba truly loathed Yugi.

When Kaiba ultimately lost to Pegasus he had his soul taken away. Yugi became outraged at Pegasus for playing games with their lives. Kaiba helped Yugi find his friends when they were abducted by Marik. Yugi respects Kaiba as a Duelist, a sentiment that Kaiba seems to share. When Kaiba discovers that Yugi and Yami Yugi are two different people he focuses his rivalry on the latter for past defeats.

However, he still respects Yugi as a Duelist in his own right. This is shown at the start of the Ceremonial Battle when Kaiba described the Duel to himself as the ultimate Duel for the title of Duel King, acknowledging Yugi as Yami's equal. When Yugi defeats all three God cards Kaiba openly states he believes Yugi can win. Yugi considers Kaiba to be a friend. Before they traveled to Egypt, Yugi and Yami reflect on their journey until that point, Yugi muses on all the friends he made because of Yami, and Kaiba appears along with his other friends.

Initially, Rebecca was hostile to both Yugi and his grandfather , accusing them of stealing her grandfather's " Blue-Eyes White Dragon ", but this conflict is resolved very quickly.

However, during her second appearance in the Waking the Dragons arc, Rebecca announces that she is in college and has taken Yugi as her "boyfriend". Since then, Rebecca continues to express her romantic affection for Yugi, getting angry at Yami Yugi after his loss to Rafael. The two even share a bit of a moment at Rebecca's destroyed house. She also gets mad at Vivian when she tries to flirt with Yugi, and taunts her after beating her in a Duel.

Then, during her Duel with Leon von Schroeder , she gets depressed when Yugi gets distracted by having to find his grandfather, who goes missing, and hugged him pretty much whenever she saw him. Yugi's Decks are most famous for his " Dark Magician ". Yugi's Deck probably has the most variety and balance of any other character's Deck in the series, and is sometimes referred to as a Strategy Deck. The Deck also had Exodia in it, which he used in the first episode to defeat Kaiba, but Weevil Underwood threw them overboard on the ship to Duelist Kingdom, and Joey Wheeler was only able to recover two of them, so Yugi abandoned Exodia.

Yugi's Deck mostly focuses on Warrior and Spellcaster-Type monsters, contrasting Seto Kaiba who uses Fiend and Dragon-Type monsters, or cards with a technological theme to them.

During the Dawn of the Duel arc, Yugi uses a Deck separate from Yami Yugi's, which is based around cards with a Toy theme like " Blockman " and the " Gadgets ", and Level monsters that grow stronger over time, such as " Silent Swordsman " and " Silent Magician ". This Deck represents the strength Yugi has without the help of Yami Yugi as well as his playful side. As a result he does not use the Dark Magician and its related cards , leaving them to Yami Yugi when they build separate Decks for the final Ceremonial Duel.

While Dimitri copies Yugi's moves very well, he loses because he lacks the bond with the cards that Yugi has. In the Dungeon Dice Monsters video game , Yugi uses monsters that he used in the anime, which makes many Spellcaster-Type, with a small number of Warrior and Dragon-Type monsters.

Capsule Monsters , Yugi used the following monsters:. Wiki Explore. Structure Deck R Starter Decks. Game terms. Summoning conditions Normal Summon Flip Summon. Flip Gemini Union Spirit Toon. OCG Structures. Explore Wikis Community Central.
